2018 IECC Effective air sealing

  • 1 hour course; ICC#37472 - AIA #IDXX-2019-08

  • This interactive workshop addresses one of the most misunderstood elements of the residential energy code. The course gives you a short history of air sealing in the codes and unravels some of the mysteries of why one of the most important parts of building an energy efficient home is often overlooked. Based on years of field work and multiple Treasure Valley homes as case study, the presenter provides an “overview” of materials, costs and best practices for building a business case on why air sealing deserves more focus. For a more detailed specific training, we offer a 6-hour course further down the list.

2018 IRC Attic ventilation

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37473 - AIC #IDXX-2019-10

  • This interactive workshop addresses code requirements, product selection and best practices for proper installation of attic ventilation.

2018 IECC ERI Section 406

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37474 - AIA IDXX-2019-14

  • This workshop looks at the 2018 Energy Code Section R406 titled "Energy Rating Index Compliance Alternative" and what it entails. Based on the popular HERS (Home Energy Rating Score) that allows flexibility for builders and home designers to meet or exceed future energy code requirements. ERI may also provide a valuable option to jurisdictions currently seeking above code programs. The workshop will include a live demonstration of the RESNET software used in HERS with instructions for plan reviewers and field inspections.

2018 IRC Indoor air quality

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37475 - AIA IDXX-2019-23

  • How tight is too tight? Are newer versions of the energy code creating unhealthy homes? These questions and more are addressed in a session that reviews current and future code requirements, ASHRAE standards and best practices for insuring healthy living spaces. Minimum ventilation rates, combustion air for appliances and fireplaces and radon mitigation must be considered as part of a healthy home design. This workshop takes a "whole house" approach and offers common-sense, cost-effective solutions as well as new and emerging technologies.

2018 IRC Conditioned crawlspaces

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37476 - AIA IDXX-2019-11

  • This presentation reviews the differences between conditioned and unconditioned crawlspaces from a code perspective. The interactive session will also discuss benefits, which environments are conducive and best practices for installation.

2018 IECC Remodels and additions

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37477 - AIA IDXX-2019-21

  • This interactive session reviews compliance, comfort concerns and potential energy savings related to remodels and additions when using the 2018 IRC and IECC.

FIREPLACES in tight homes

  • 1 hour course; ICC #37478 - AIA ID

  • This course is a variation of the Indoor Air Quality course with a specific emphasis on “How to make fireplaces behave in tight homes”. The course is focused more on the design process of the house prior to being built but does provide helpful hints on resolving existing problems.

2018 IECC - Manual j, S, and d

  • 1 hour course; ICC #39375 - AIA ID

  • This course takes a simpler approach to understanding and reviewing Wrightsoft heat load calculations. With separate sections for permit techs, plan reviewers and inspectors, learn what’s important and what needs verified. We’ll review common complaints and potential solutions.

2018 IECC - HVAC & Lighting commissioning

  • 1 hour course; ICC #39376 AIA ID

  • What commissioning is required, who can do it and timeframes for completion. This commercial course tries to unravel a couple of the more difficult processes for completing commercial projects and insuring that systems operate as designed and installed.

emerging technologies - Heat pump water waters

  • 1 hour course; ICC #39377 AIA ID

  • Wondering what the hype is about? Do they work? How hard are they to install? Here’s all the info from several manufacturers on minimum codes, placement and operation as well as cost comparisons.

2018 IECC - Air sealing, a whole house approach

  • 6 hour course; ICC #39379 AIA ID
